Suwahas Mal Garden Centre was established on 9th of June 2006 at Torington Colombo 07. It was developed as a modern garden centre with high technology. High Quality planting materials and floral products are available for sale at reasonable prices. This centre would also function as an education unit to distribute knowledge and technology related to Botany and Floriculture to growers and the public of the western province.
In addition the Suwahas Mal Program is also coordinated from here which includes organizing exhibitions and plant sales for members of Suwahas Mal organizations in the Colombo District.
The Suwahas Mal Garden Centre also plans to facilitate whole sale and retail marketing of cut flowers. At present small quantities of cut-flowers and fillers produced at the Botanic Gardens are retail at this centre. The future plans are being made to develop this retail outlet into an auction centre for cut-flower and potted plants including large plants for landscaping purposes.
